about
This track was created by the group, Sam and Friends.
It is dedicated to Trevi House Charity based in Plymouth.
Trevi runs a residential rehabilitation centre - the only rehab in the UK which is exclusively for mothers and their children.
The group planned to organise a music event to raise money for the charity.Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they were unbale to carry on with this event.
Nevertheless, these group of musiciains from various backgrounds came together to write a song for the charity to show solidarity with them.
The song aims to speak about the issues that Trevi House charity is fighting – Addiction. We hope that the song resonates with people dealing with different forms of addiction and can serve as an anthem for them as they try to break free from their addictions.
Verse 1:
You're an invisible menace
A betrayal of my brain
A revenge for falling, for trusting you again
You pour and you lurk, just out of sight
Whisper sweet nothings, entice me with delight
You tell me, "Remember how I made you feel"
You're the aloe vera to my sunburn peel
I could do it again if you just let me in
All I ask is for one small sharp sting, but
I've got more to lose now
Something else has taken your place
A single look and a tiny embrace
Verse 2:
Now there's a battle
Who will win and who will lose?
I must put one to the side and let the other fully in
You pull with all that you have
The past, the fear, the bliss (the reality of struggle)
If I really choose this
The sweats , the pangs, depression and despair
But then I look at her, so small so weak
Knowing without me by her side she has no voice to speak
So I'm saying goodbye (bye)
And though I still love you
She's my highest high, my hope to cling to
And I still hear you knock, knocking at my door
Chorus:
Time and time and time again
You push me back then pull me in
But I ain't going back again
My new life is just beginning
Time and time and time again
You tell me that I'll never win
But I ain't going back again
I'm stronger than I've ever been
Time and time and time again
You push me back then pull me in
But I ain't going back again
My new life is just beginning
Time and time and time again
You tell me that I'll never win
But I ain't going back again
I'm stronger than I've ever been
Bridge:
Oh the highs and lows
They won't let me go
Oh the highs and lows
I can't let them go
Chorus:
Time and time and time again
You push me back then pull me in
But I ain't going back again
My new life is just beginning
Time and time and time again
You tell me that I'll never win
But I ain't going back again
I'm stronger than I've ever been
Time and time and time again
You push me back then pull me in
But I ain't going back again
My new life is just beginning
Time and time and time again
You tell me that I'll never win
But I ain't going back again
I'm stronger than I've ever been
